peripheral neuropathy
Is there anyone reading this that peripheral neuropathy? What have you found to help relieve the pain?
I have had peripheral neuropathy for 10 years. This is a nervous disorder with no cure for the type I have. Drs. say all they can do is try to better my quality of life is me dealing with pain medication. It is very painful and the medication helps me so much less sleep. Is rarely heard. I'm sure there are a lot cases the problem is that there is little knowledge about it. The more time I have become the weakest and the more it spreads. I worry that I will be in a wheelchair soon. When I talk to my doctor, dr pain management, or neurologist about this that seemed in a hurry to change the topic with no comment. I do not know what I hope they say. I think you just need to talk to someone who knows where I come from. Also, if someone is in pain tingling toes and that the doctor does not know what happens or puts off as just another silly complaint, ask if you can check out for neauropathy peripheral.
I have this miserable condition, and never go a day without pain is often severe. Peripheral neuropathy is difficult to treat and not everyone responds well to medication. I'm on 60 mg of Cymbalta once daily Pregabalin, 50 mg three times daily. This makes the pain bearable. I have had neuropathy for fifteen years. In my case it has gotten progressively worse. I'm not in a wheelchair but sometimes I need a cane to help balance or when one of the nerves in the feet gets really bad. You did not say what drugs they were on, but if you are taking Neurontin (gabapentin) that made me groggy. My neurologist tried Neurontin and I became very dizzy and sleepy, also tried Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) I still sleep and drowsiness to the point that I would fall. Now I am on the Lyrica is Neurontin, but has fewer side effects.
